RPM 35061 1/35 Renault FT-17 Mitrailleur Girod Turret
The French Renault FT-17 (Renault FT modele 1917) was one of the light tanks that made its debut in WWI. It was a revolutionary tank design as it was the first tank with the armament in a fully rotating turret. Over 3,800 FT-17s were produced with variants of an octagonal turret or later rounded turret (called Berliet turret). In the US, the FT-17 was commonly referred to as the Six Ton Tank Model 1917 and about 950 were built.
Armament varied with FT-17s sporting the following:
- 37 mm short-barrel gun Puteaux SA-18
- 8mm Hotchkiss machinegun
- 75mm short-barrel howitzer
- a command tank versions with a >radio and no armament
- 7.5 mm Reibel machinegun.
